If you’re pushed for time our quick round-up video review below covers the basics.

But if you’ve got a little more time to delve into detail, we recommend reading the full review just past the video.

Bodymax Deluxe Rubber Dumbbells: My Initial Thoughts

Bodymax Rubber Dumbbell set 40kg.

When I first unboxed my new Bodymax Deluxe Rubber Dumbbells, I was hit with an overpowering rubber smell that transformed my home gym into something resembling a tyre factory.

To add to the initial disappointment, they were covered in a weird slippery coating that had me questioning their usability. I mean, the last thing you want is a dumbbell slipping out of your hand mid-lift, right?

However, a quick scrub with washing-up liquid and a cloth (and then a second wash a week later) seemed to sort the slippery issue, and thankfully, after a few weeks, that strong rubber odour finally dissipated.

It’s worth mentioning that this isn’t unique to Bodymax; most rubber dumbbells come with that ‘new car tyre’ aroma.

Just be prepared for it.

On the flip side, the quality of these dumbbells is something I’m quite pleased with.

They look durable and feel robust in the hand, a good indicator that they’ll withstand some serious workouts. Despite the initial setbacks, I’ve had high hopes for them.

So if you’re thinking of getting a set of Bodymax Deluxe Rubber Dumbbells for your home gym, they’re worth considering. Just be ready to give them a good clean and allow some time for the smell to fade.

I was eager to see how they perform in the long run.

How Did They Perform?

I’m chuffed with the Bodymax Deluxe Rubber Dumbbells—excellent value for the price, under £100! Unlike their noisy metal counterparts, these are practically silent, making them perfect for home workouts.

Durability? Top-notch. I’ve thrown them around quite a bit, and they’re still like new.

The grip is another selling point. Even during my sweatiest sessions, these dumbbells never slipped. The slightly textured grip offers that extra bit of hold you don’t realise you need until you’ve got it.

So, are they worth it? Absolutely. They’re a quality investment for anyone serious about their home workouts.

I’ve also loaded each dumbbell handle up to 26kg, way above their 20kg standard weight and not noticed any issues.

Bodymax Deluxe Rubber Dumbbells – Design & Features

First off, these dumbbells are gorgeous, like works of art.

When I first laid eyes on them, I couldn’t help but admire the beautifully crafted design. No clunky, purely functional weights here; these dumbbells mean business and they look the part too.

The rubber coating is well finished with no imperfections.

The first thing I noticed during my initial workout was the textured plastic handle.

Honestly, it’s a revelation even though plastic doesn’t shout quality.

We’ve all been there, haven’t we? Arms shaking, sweat dripping down our palms, and then the dumbbell slips or shifts.

Frustrating, isn’t it? With these, that’s a thing of the past. I’ve pushed myself to the limit, got my hands all sweaty and not once did I feel like I was going to lose my grip.

Let’s talk about noise—or rather, the lack thereof. Rubber-coated plates, mates! If you’ve ever trained at odd hours, you’ll understand the value of this. It’s like switching from tap shoes to slippers, and your downstairs neighbours will love you for it.

The plates glide onto the barbell as quietly as a whisper, and the rubber coating saves your floor from looking like the surface of the moon. They’ve thought of everything, haven’t they?

Quality construction is what sets these dumbbells apart.

The rubber coating is not only for your comfort; it’s also a layer of durability that ensures these beauties are in it for the long haul.

Plus, the spin-lock collar system offers peace of mind, ensuring that everything stays in place, even during your most vigorous workouts. I’ve put these through the wringer and they’ve held up impressively.

Now, about those standard 1″ bars—they’re compatible with 1″ plates, which is just bloody convenient. If you’ve got other plates hanging about, they’ll fit on snugly. No need for adapters or, heaven forbid, an entirely new set of plates.

The ergonomic design of the independent dumbbell bars is another cherry on top. It’s not just a textured handle; it’s a comfortable textured handle.

When you’re lifting, you want to focus on your form and the muscle you’re targeting, not on how uncomfortable your hand feels. These allow you to do just that.

Oh, and did I mention how easy they are to store? I don’t have a palace; it’s a modest home gym, but these dumbbells fit right in without taking up much space.

The portability and size make them perfect for a quick workout session before work or a late-night burn to let off steam.

So, there you have it. These aren’t just dumbbells; they’re a quality investment in your home gym and, by extension, in yourself.

With these in your arsenal, you’re equipped to work a plethora of muscles, from your biceps and triceps to your quads and glutes, and even those often-neglected core abdominals.

How Heavy Are The Bodymax Deluxe Rubber Dumbbells?

Bodymax rubber dumbbells set with 5kg plates on the floor.

Ah, the weight! That’s often the first question on everyone’s lips, isn’t it?

Well, these Bodymax Deluxe Rubber Dumbbells have a good range, starting from a 15KG set and going all the way up to a 40KG set.

If you’re just starting out or even if you’re a seasoned pro, there’s a set here that’s tailored for you.

However, I recommend getting the heaviest 40kg set because it’ll future-proof your progress.

My Personal Experience with the 40KG Set

I opted for the 40KG set myself and, blimey, they’ve been an absolute game-changer.

You get a pair of 16” bars, 4 spin-lock collars, and an assortment of weight plates ranging from 0.5KG to 5KG.

This set far outperforms the other options because it comes with 5kg plates which the others don’t which is why I recommend them over the other options.

This set was spot-on for my home workouts. Whether I was doing bicep curls or shoulder presses, the 40KG set gave me enough room for both endurance sets and those power moves.

Adding on further purchased 5kg plates and a beginner chest workout can even be performed.

For the Overachievers: Multiple Sets

Now, listen to this: I have a few mates who went the extra mile, buying multiple sets to really stack on the weight.

And why not?

If you’ve got the budget and the space, you can easily load up several 5KG plates on each dumbbell. It’s almost like having a mini gym at home.

Thankfully you don’t need to continually buy Bodymax sets, although you could if you wanted, but who wants tons of bars hanging around?

Any 1″ plates will be compatible and if you’ve got cast iron weights laying about, the slightly larger size of the Bodymax rubber coated 5kg plates will still cushion your floor against a smaller 5kg cast iron weight.

So, to wrap it up, there’s a bit of something for everyone, and it’s all rather flexible.

If you’re new to the game, start off with a lighter set. As you progress, you can either get additional sets or just load up on individual weight plates. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

What Exercises Can You Do With The Bodymax Deluxe Rubber Dumbbells?

In my opinion, Bodymax Deluxe Rubber Dumbbells are a brilliant choice for bodybuilders and anyone looking to keep fit.

If you’re on a mission to build muscle or simply maintain a well-rounded physique at home, these dumbbells are perfect for you.

They strike a great balance between durability and comfort, allowing you to focus entirely on your workout. Believe me, you’ll not only feel the exertion, but you’ll also be eager for your next session.

Areas of the Body and Exercises

Now, let’s dive into the variety of exercises you can do with these. With the Bodymax Deluxe Rubber Dumbbells, you can target virtually any area of your body. Here are some exercises I personally find effective:

  • Biceps: Classic bicep curls are a breeze, thanks to the even weight distribution these dumbbells offer.
  • Shoulders: Whether you’re into shoulder presses, lateral raises, or front raises, these dumbbells work brilliantly.
  • Chest: Add a new dimension to your push-ups by incorporating dumbbell presses or flies. It’s a fantastic way to target the chest muscles.
  • Back: Choose between single-arm rows and bent-over rows for a solid back workout.
  • Legs and Glutes: You might be surprised, but goblet squats and Bulgarian split squats are excellent choices for a complete lower body routine.
  • Core: For core work, I recommend Russian twists and weighted leg raises to really challenge your abs.

So there it is. The Bodymax Deluxe Rubber Dumbbells offer more than just weightlifting; they provide a comprehensive full-body workout.

Whether you’re a seasoned bodybuilder or just someone keen to stay fit, these dumbbells are an excellent addition to your home gym.

Dumbbells FAQ

Bodymax rubber dumbbell 5kg plates.

Do these dumbbells offer good value for money?

Absolutely! In my experience, the Bodymax Deluxe Rubber Dumbbells are a solid investment. They’re versatile enough for a range of workouts and built to last.

The quality you get for the price is impressive. I’ve used pricier sets that didn’t offer nearly as much value.

After using these for over two years my opinion is these dumbbells are top-notch.

How’s the grip on these dumbbells?

The grip is excellent. The bars are textured, providing a firm hold even when your hands start to sweat. There’s no need to worry about accidental slips or awkward re-gripping during your sets.

Are they easy to store?

If you’re short on space, these dumbbells are a great choice. They’re not too bulky and can be easily disassembled.

I usually tuck mine under the bed when I’m done, and they’re out of sight and out of the way.

The 5kg plates are slightly larger than non-rubber coated ones, but for the added protection and noise reduction, I found the positive outweighed the negative.

Can you easily change the weight plates?

Changing the weight plates is a smooth and efficient process.

The spin-lock collars make it easy to swap out the weights, with no need to mess around with complicated fasteners or clips.

If you’re using multiple weights for different workouts it can be time consuming.

However this isn’t a specific issue of these weights, but of any spinlock collar weights. You’d need pricey adjustable dumbbells to combat that.

Are these suitable for beginners?

Absolutely. These dumbbells are very beginner-friendly. The lower-weight options are perfect for those just getting started, and the set’s versatility means you can continue to use them as you advance.

Get the heaviest set you can afford, you’ll grow into them, no worries.

Summary: My Final Thoughts

Alright, let’s cut to the chase: If you’re in the market for a versatile, durable, and damn efficient set of dumbbells, look no further than the Bodymax Deluxe Rubber Dumbbells.

From my own experience with the 40KG set, I can vouch that these beauties can take your home workouts to a whole new level.

Their flexible weight options give you the room to grow, whether you’re just starting out or you’re looking to become the next heavyweight champ of your living room.

I like the build and quality of these weights and I really appreciate their rubber coating which have saved my hard floors and keep noise to a minimum on every occasion.

I’ll be honest, when you buy the weights, they stink. The greasy coating is also a bit off-putting and you’ll need a little elbow grease in the first couple of weeks to get them non-slimy and remove the strong odour.

But aside from that, they’re excellent. So, what are you waiting for?

Don’t miss out on the opportunity to revolutionise your fitness game.
